National Observer. A helpful article that notes the importance of community-level climate action and includes useful links for those wanting to know how to translate climate action into meaningful local initiatives. Acknowledging that federal governments of the US and Canada seem on the verge of recognizing climate change as a cross-border problem, it cautions us not to become complacent in thinking these levels of governments will do the necessary lifting. “In seeking solutions to this global challenge, … it is wise to focus at the scales of regions, neighbourhoods and communities, where so much of the productive work has already taken place. National commitments have come and gone, but the ebb and flow of national politics has not stopped communities and organizations from making progress.” In other words, it is here where action happens. To assist in this work, the authors include a description of and links to the Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) provisions of the Paris Agreement. [ARTICLE LINK]
