This review is definitely worth reading, not only because it is of a novel about another plague in another place and time written by one of the significant thinkers of the 20th century , but because the review was written by Patrick Condon, a preeminent Canadian urban designer, planner, professor, and writer on sustainable communities. A VN item from May, 2020, worth revisiting two years after it was posted. As Patrick Condon notes, Camus’s novel is as relevant today as ever — and, I suggest, Camus thinking applies to human choices in more crises than plagues.

I got the book off my shelf yesterday to reread. I took an English course at UVic, several years ago now, where this was one of the books we studied. Great book, so I kept it to revisit at some point.
