What we have here, is the tragedy of the commons writ globally. “This is a crisis of culture and politics, not of science and technology.“ When you get down to it, the real problems lie with the perception of self-entitlement that lead to too many humans consuming far too much, not with the climate nor any other symptom of that underlying problem. A corollary is that thinking globally while acting locally means correcting local cultural mindsets. Without concentrated efforts to deal with the culture problem at this level, little change will happen elsewhere.
