The Guardian. September 15, 2021. If the definition of a community is “a group of people with common interests”, this article suggests a couple of important corollaries of that definition. For “community” to be applied to a given population – like those of us living in Nanaimo – we need to understand what our common interests are and who among us share them. Within the context of this article, “Research disproves [the] perception young people want to save planet while older people do not care. [I]n fact older generations are just as worried about the issue as younger people, according to new research.” Equally important, it also suggests an action point. For us to create and sustain a “community”, we should be careful not to fracture existing unanimity with erroneous stereotypes and misconceptions. [ARTICLE LINK]
