National Observer: Summer, 2021. Here is a still unfolding series (with 10 of 13 articles series now published) that is very timely given the recent UN’s IPCC report on climate change. Developed over the past 6 months, the series is a collaboration of Canada’s National Observer, The Canadian Centre for Journalism, and I-SEA’s Climate Solutions Reporting Project. It looks at “ what’s working and what’s failing in cities across Canada as they rise to the challenge of tackling climate change.” Moving east to west across the country, the latest item (August 9) is on Edmonton, AB. The first article in the series provides you with an overview. The complete series is definitely worth a look for would-be sustainable communities like Nanaimo. Its articles provide insights, useful information, and a lot of interesting – sometimes even inspiring – reading. Because of their importance, the National Observer offers the series free to readers as a public service rather than protecting it behind their paywall. [ARTICLE INDEX LINK]
